Komatireddy skips meeting held to discuss Rahul’s visit

bhongir MP Komatireddy venkat reddy, Congress star campaigner, preparatory meeting on Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Telangana state

HYDERABAD: Bhongir MP and Congress star campaigner Komatireddy Venkat Reddy skipped the preparatory meeting on Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Telangana state on Friday in Nagarjunasagar. Instead, he took part in union transport minister Nitin Gadkari’s meeting at Shamshabad along with union tourism minister G. Kishan Reddy and state roads and buildings minister V. Prashanth Reddy.

Venkat Reddy said preparatory meeting by TPCC chief A. Revanth Reddy was not required in undivided Nalgonda district. The Congress had a strong base in the district and Revanth Reddy should concentrate on north Telangana districts, where the party was weak, he opined.

For the last few months, Venkat Reddy had differences with the state leadership. He was appointed star campaigner by the AICC to use his services extensively.

Venkat Reddy openly raised an objection over the preparatory meeting for Rahul Gandhi's visit and skipped the meeting. His remarks against the state leadership created confusion among party cadres and it is likely to show a negative impact on Rahul Gandhi’s public meeting to be held on May 6 in Warangal.
