PS Sreedharan Pillai demands detailed probe

Pillai asked the CPM to change its stand to make the electoral process smooth.

Thiruvananthapuram: BJP state president P. S. Sreedharan Pillai has demanded a comprehensive probe into the charges of fake voting in the Lok Sabha elections in the state. The Communists were destroying democracy and sabotaging the elections, he said and asked the CPM to disown the party villages.

“The CPM does not allow polling agents of other parties to sit in the polling booths of party villages,” he told repor-ters here on Monday. This was clearly brought out by the webcasting of the polling process. The clarification made by CPM Kannur district secretary M. V. Jayarajan that open votes were cast in Kannur was a lie, he said.

He asked the CPM to change its stand to make the electoral process smooth. “The BJP believes in democracy. The CPM is continuing as a national party at the mercy of the BJP and due to former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The CPM is certain to face severe setbacks,” he said.

Mr Pillai also hit out at Chief Electoral Officer Teeka Ram Meena for saying that after apologising for his speech at Attingal, he (Pillai) was criticising him (Meena) again. He had not made any anti-Muslim comments, nor had he apologised to Mr Meena, he said. “I will give a copy of the speech to all,” he said.
