VS Achuthananthan mum on PC George in Poonjar
Kottayam: Chief Minister Oomen Chandy was now compelling people to engage in a riot after the case filed by him in a court in Thiruvananthapuram was rejected, said Opposition leader VS Achuthananthan. He was speaking at the public meeting organized by the LDF, in view of the coming assembly elections, at the Thirunakkara ground in the town.
Mr Achuthananthan was referring to the comments of Chief Minister Oomen Chandy who on Friday demanded that the opposition leader tender an apology for levelling baseless allegations against him. “Otherwise the people will correct him,” Mr Chandy had told reporters.
What provoked Mr Chandy to file a case in the court was a speech rendered by Mr Achuthananthan in Dharadom earlier this month in which he alleged that there were 31 corruption cases against the chief minister and a total of 136 cases against the entire cabinet members.
Earlier on Friday morning, Mr Achuthananthan addressed the LDF meeting at the Mundakkayam private bus stand where he demanded that the public elect the LDF candidate of the constituency PC Joseph. In his speech, he never mentioned the main opposition candidate of the UDF, sitting MLA PC George of Kerala Congress (Secular).
Addressing the LDF meeting at the Puzhakkara ground in Pala, he said that KM Mani was the ‘hated decent man’. Mr Achuthananthan alleged that Mr Mani could not get away from the bar bribery case.
