VS Achuthanandan asks Oommen Chandy to not to run away from arena
Kochi: The verbal duel between Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and Opposition Leader VS Achuthanandan continued unabated even as local court in Thiruvananthapuram on Friday dismissed a defamation case filed by Mr. Chandy against Mr. Achuthanandan. Hailing the court verdict Achuthanandan has equated the action of Mr. Chandy approaching the court with that of ‘changing the arena.’
“Mr. Chandy received a fitting reprimand for trying to escape from the electoral arena,” VS said in a facebook post referring to the court verdict. Asking Mr. Chandy to come back to the electoral arena the opposition leader said ‘hiding from the electoral arena during the time of elections amounts to political cowardice’.
In his counter attack Mr. Chandy described VS as person ready to compromise on his principles for the sake of power. VS ran away from Poonjar without mentioning anything against PC George, the former government chief whip, contesting as an independent candidate, for the sake of power. VS opted for a similar tactics in connection with Lavlin issue and the murder of TP Chandrasekharan, Mr. Chandy said.
In the facebook post VS has said that he would take up the challenges posed by Mr. Chandy with pleasure. Saying that Mr. Chandy is running away from the battlefield the opposition leader asked “Mr. Chandy, why are you so scared of the people.”
