Doyens meet in Vattiyoorkavu
Thiruvananthapuram: With campaign hotting up in Vattiyoorkavu constituency, the three major contenders K Muraleedharan of UDF, T N Seema of LDF and Kummanam Rajashekharan of BJP seem to be neck and neck in electioneering.
Sitting MLA Muraleedharan launched his local contact programme days ago and his door to door campagin has picked up after filing of nomination paper.
He is confident of getting a second term from Vattiyoorkavu on the strength of the development works carried out in the constituency. Unlike Seema and Kummanam, the Congress candidate has the advantage of working with the people of the constituency being a resident of Bhagvathy Nagar, Kawdiar.
LDF candidate T N Seema is currently on door to door campaign in the constituency. During the last two days she concentrated in areas like Kawdiar, Jawahar Nagar, Bhagvathy Nagar, Papanamcode covering several hundred houses, meeting voters personally. Her campaign also got a shot in the arm with noted music director Jassie Gift seeking votes for her in various localities.
“As my teacher in University College, she had a great influence on students. Moreover, she has carried out various development activits using MPLAD funds as Rajya Sabha member,” he tells voters while seeking their support.
The presence of BJP state president Kummnam Rajashekharan in the fray has made Vattiyorkavu electons a prestigious battle for Sangh Parivar organisations. The party has galvanised the workers in the constituency and also roped in central leaders to campaign. BJP leaders claim that his selfie campagin is also a big hit.
Kummanam is focusing on what he calls “adjustment politics” of UDF and LDF.
“People have experienced the problems under UDF and LDF governments. They are wareof their track record. We are confident of defeating both the fronts,” he said.
