BJP banks on Sangh Parivar strength for coastal Karnataka polls
Mangaluru: The BJP's campaign efforts are in full swing through various Yatras and conventions in coastal Karnataka. At the same time, Sangh Parivar activists are also conducting their own style of campaigning in every village in the area.
The districts of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada are known as the strongholds of Sangh Parivar, with a strong presence at the grassroots level. All the organisations of Sangh Parivar are active here. This is believed to be the main reason for BJP’s growth in the region.
While BJP swept all five seats in Udupi, it succeeded to win seven out of the eight in Dakshina Kannada.
According to BJP sources, Sangh Parivar has been working for the election for the past two months in the two districts.
"Their units are active in every assembly segment. They monitor the village-level groups. Leaders of the respective village meet people and campaign. They work parallel to us. But their mode of the campaign is different. They strengthen us at the grassroots level," a senior BJP leader told Deccan Chronicle.
These leaders not only undertake campaigns but also collect details about the inclination of the voters in their respective villages, providing clear data and a picture of the strength of the party.
"The party is yet to finalize candidates. But for Sangh Parivar, the candidate is not important. That is why they have already started the campaign in every assembly segment. More than our workers, they have a clear and accurate picture of the party’s strengths and weaknesses. This will help us in rectifying the hitch," the leader added.
With the help of Sangh Parivar and the party cadre at the grassroots level, BJP is confident of repeating its success story in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts.
