Sabarimala to be part campaign: Tushar Vellappally
Thrissur: Tushar Vellappally, the NDA candidate from Thrissur Lok Sabha Constituency, on Friday kick-started his campaign with a road show here.
He said the Sabarimala issue would be a part of the election campaign and Congress’ prime ministerial candidate Rahul Gandhi was like a ‘bonsai tree before the might of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’.
After offering prayers at Sree Krishna Temple in Guruvayur, Mr Tushar’s road show was flagged off from the South Nada of Vadakkumnathan Tem-ple on Thekkinkkad Mai-danam on Friday morning.
“As the Congress has no hope of returning to power after the upcoming general elections, the party leaders are doling out promises to people at will (like that of minimum income scheme of `6,000 per month for the poor). It is a joke that a party and the Nehru family that ruled the country for more than half-a-century is now coming up with promises during election campaigns to eradicate poverty,” he said.
Mr Tushar who did his pre-degree at Christ College, Irinjalakkuda in Thrissur said that both the MPs of UDF and LDF had failed to bring major changes and projects to Thrissur. “Other than road widening and a few shopping complexes, Thrissur which has far more potential, has not seen any major development,” he noted.
Former DGP T.P. Senkumar, who is also the Sabarimala Karma Samiti’s national chairman, along with BJP and BDJS leaders took part in the road show.
Tushar met Archbishop Andrews Thazhath at Bishop House in the afternoon and sough his blessings.
