PM Modi slams Opposition for questioning armed forces
Hyderabad: Criticising Telangana state Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for advancing the Assembly elections in the state and putting a financial burden on people, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said it was done on the advice of an astrologer.
Maintaining that the Telangana Rashtra Samiti and the Congress were alike in promoting dynastic politics, Mr Modi said irrespective of Assembly results, the Centre had been liberal in giving Telangana an All India Institute of Medical Sciences, a Tribal University, national highways and a railway link to Mahbubnagar.
The BJP government, he said, had not hesitated to cross the border and destroy terror havens, nor had it baulked at taking decisive steps to test its space weapons. As a result, he said, “terrorism is now confined to Jammu and Kashmir. You no longer hear news of bomb explosions as you used to do five years ago.”
It is unfortunate that the Opposition parties are questioning the armed forces, and also abusing him, but because of the people’s blessings he is steadfast in remaining on the path of development.
“Your blessings allowed me to tolerate all kinds of pressures. That's why I could run a decision-making government,” he said. He claimed that he was working hard in areas ranging from civic amenities to space - the latter an obvious reference to the successful test firing of an anti-satellite missile this week.
“On April 11, you are not just going to select an MP or vote for a Prime Minister, you will be voting for a new India which will be reflective of the aspirations of Telangana,” he declared.
