KSTA messes with state education: Ramesh Chennithala
Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala has alleged that Kerala School Teachers Association is ruling the education department. He cast aspersions on education minister C. Raveendranath on why he was delaying action against KSTA office bearers who are allegedly behind the flaw in SSLC question paper.
Mr Chennithala was speaking at the opening of his three-hour dharna before the Secretariat demanding a judicial probe. Mr Chennithala said the question paper scam could not be taken lightly as transactions of several lakhs of rupees were involved in it.
“There is a nexus between teachers and the KSTA office bearers. Those responsible for the grave error have to be arrested and put behind bars. In fact, the education minister has to step down,” he said.
He said all these years the question papers are set under top secrecy which has now been handed over to the pro-government teachers' union.
He wanted to know why the LDF government was still protecting those teachers found guilty suspending only one teacher from service. Meanwhile, Congress legislator K. Muraleedharan walked out in a huff after he was denied a seat on the dais.
KPCC president M. M. Hassan inaugurated the dharna. Earlier Mr Chennithala had demanded the resignation of the education minister for the failure of properly conducting the exams taken by more than a million pupils.
