BJP's Muslim faces to make a beeline for Malappuram
Malappuram: The BJP has miles to go before it can hope to get even the second spot in the Malappuram Lok Sabha constituency though there has been a steady growth in its vote share during the past few elections.
But it has been conducting intense electioneering in the constituency with the advantage of being the ruling party at the centre and has almost pushed its immediate rival aside in the fray. To woo the voters of this Muslim dominated LS segment, the BJP campaign managers are planning to bring the party’s popular national Muslim faces and union ministers to Malappuram along with other leaders.
Union Minister of State for External Affairs M.J. Akbar, Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and national spokesperson Syed Shahnawaz Hussain would reach Malappuram to campaign for BJP candidate N. Sreeprakash. The dates have not been finalised yet. Most of the state leaders and national committee members from the state have completed several rounds of campaigning in the constituency.
Actor and Rajya Sabha MP Suresh Gopi will attend a road show at the conclusion of the campaign before the voting on April 12.
