DMK allots three more seats to allies
Chennai: The DMK on Tuesday allocated one seat each to Perunthalaivar Makkal Katchi, Samooga Samathuva Padai Party and Thamzihaga Vivasaya Thozhilalar Party for the May 16 Assembly elections and the seats for the three parties will be decided later.
The DMK also began seat-sharing talks with Puthiya Thamizhagam. DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin on Tuesday informed that talks with the PT is on.
At DMK chief M. Karunanidhi’s Gopalapuram residence, the leader of Perunthalaivar Makkal Katchi, N.R. Dhanapalan met him and the two leaders signed the electoral agreement. Dhanapalan was an ally of the DMK in the 2011 Assembly elections and contested in Perambur seat.
Leader of Tamizhaga Vivasaya Thozhilalar Katchi Pon. Kumar too met DMk president Karunanidhi and signed the poll deal. Besides, the DMK leader signed a pact with Samooga Samathuva Padai Party leader P. Sivakami allotting the party one seat, which will be identified later.
The three parties will contest in the DMK symbol ‘rising sun’. DMK has allocated five seats each to the Indian Union Muslim League and Manithaneya Makkal Katchi.
