Kanam Rajendran reiterates need for united Front against BJP

In Kerala, the opposing coalitions UDF and the LDF jointly voted for the cause.

Kollam: Sniping at the CPM’s stand against joining hands with the Congress party to defeat the BJP in the national elections next year, CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran on Monday said it was foolish to think “we alone are sufficient to oppose them”. “The unity of opposition parties was realised during the time of voting for electing the President and Vice-President. As many as 17 parties united for finding an opposition presidential candidate while 18 parties united in the case of vice-president. Though the candidates did not win, the unity was a good sign,” he said.

“In Kerala, the opposing coalitions UDF and the LDF jointly voted for the cause. This was because the main enemy (BJP-RSS) was identified,” he added. Speaking at the CPI Kollam district conference held in Kottarakkara, Mr Rajendran made the CPI’s stance clear that the CPI national council has decided to form a common platform to oppose the policies of BJP-Sangh Parivar forces. “The farmers' collectives and trade unions are on the path of joint protests leaving behind their differences in political opinions.”
