Telangana: Narasimhulu may be named for Governor
Hyderabad: The Telugu Desam is confident of its senior party leader in Telangana, M. Narasimhulu, getting a gubernatorial post.
According to sources in the party, TD president and AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had broached the issue when he met BJP president Amit Shah three days ago in Delhi. Mr Naidu had reportedly reminded him of the promise the BJP made two years ago on appointing a senior TD functionary as the governor of a State.
The sources claimed that the BJP chief assured his TD counterpart on making good on their promise. Mr Naidu has already recommended Mr Narasimhulu’s name to the Centre for the gubernatorial post and spoke of it at the party’s Mahanadu a year ago. However the BJP central leadership did not act on the recommendation.
Present indications are that Mr Narasimhulu may be chosen for the Governor post for a north-eastern state. Sources also said the Union Home Ministry has initiated steps to fill up existing vacancies at various Raj Bhavans.
