Stones pelted at expelled AIADMK man's house
Chennai: Stones were allegedly pelted at expelled AIADMK functionary and MLA Pala Karuppiah's house here and three persons have been arrested in this connection, police said on Saturday.
Karuppiah's house was allegedly pelted with stones resulting in damage to door panels and windscreen of his car late last night. The attackers also used filthy language abusing the expelled AIADMK functionary.
"Three persons have been arrested and a case has been filed against them under several sections of IPC including trespass, using filthy language, pelting stones and for causing damage," a police official said.
A complaint over the alleged attack was made by Karuppiah's son Arumugam, he said.
Karuppiah, representing Harbour constituency was sacked from AIADMK by party chief and Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on January 27 for anti-party activities.
The following day, he sent a letter to State Assembly authorities tendering his resignation from assembly membership. Authorities are expected to specify if his resignation has been accepted.
Parties, including DMK, BJP and the left parties, have condemned the incident.
