Centre failed to ease common people's woes: Kerala FM Thomas Isaac

Demonetisation was launched in order to bring to light blackmoney but the Union Government could not attain that goal: FM.

Kozhikode: Kerala Finance Minister Thomas Isaac on Wednesday lashed out at the Union government and said that the Centre was taking an "illegal" approach by taking action against all those who kept the banned Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency. The Union government has failed in mitigating the hardship faced by the public.

After banning the currencies, the country had to face a loss of Rs 3 Lakh crores, which is indeed a big amount to be met by a country like India. Demonetisation was launched in order to bring to light blackmoney but the Union Government could not attain that goal, Mr Issac pointed out.

“Will our Prime Minister Narendra Modi be answerable for the death of nearly 200 persons who lost their lives after standing in long queues at banks,” asked Mr Issac. “Only a small percentage of blackmoney exists in the country and the majority that remains is in the form of gold and land and that has been conveniently overlooked by the Union government. In order to tackle the existing confusions created by the Union Government, it is now time to stop the mockery,” he added.
