Kurnool: Andhra Pradesh finance minister Buggana Rajendranath said the Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has been prioritizing public health all through his term from 2019.
“The number of 104 vehicles increased from 200 to 900 and that of 108 vehicles grew from 400 to 1,000 under the YSRC government's term.”
The finance minister inaugurated the new Cath lab, constructed at a cost of Rs.5.95 crore, and the new diagnostic lab built with Rs.3.5 crore at the GGH on Tuesday. He also inaugurated the T-Scan and blood donation centre.
The minister highlighted the expansion of healthcare services and noted that while Arogyasri covered help to treat 1,000 diseases in the past, it now extends to approximately 3,000 diseases. “The state government is spending Rs.10,000 crore during its tenure compared to Rs.5,000 crore from 2014 to 2019.
He said 45 lakh people have received medical services through Arogyasri under this government's tenure.
Finance minister Rajendranath acknowledged the improvement that was effected for government hospitals, leading to increased trust among the public for medical treatment in these facilities. The establishment of 17 medical colleges showed the government's commitment to education and healthcare, he said.
Zilla Parishad chairman Yerrabotula Papireddy, Kurnool MP Sanjeev Kumar, MLC A Madhusudan, district collector G Srijana, Mayor Ramaiah, Panyam MLA Katasani Rambhupal Reddy, Kurnool MLA Hafiz Khan, superintendent of GGH Dr. Venkata Rangareddy, medical college principal Sudhakar, heads of department, and medical staff participated in the event.
Before this, Rajendranath inaugurated the Bethamcherla road built at a cost of Rs.3.56 crore, by holding a padayatra on the new road and inaugurated an overhead tank built at a cost of Rs.22 lakh. He also inspected the Valmiki building construction in Bethamcherla, urging the officials to expedite the remaining works.
Bethamcherla mandal parishad president Buggana Nagabhushanam, municipal chairman Chalam Reddy, Maddileti Swamy temple chairman Ramachandradu and others were present.
