Candidates Go Emotional, Make Polls a Literal Life and Death Question

KARIMNAGAR: On the final day of the election campaign, candidates contesting from constituencies in the erstwhile Karimnagar district capped their days-long efforts to woo the electorate with emotional appeals — some going to the extent of threatening to harm themselves in the event of an adverse result.

Participating in a road show in Huzurabad, BRS candidate Padi Koushik Reddy said he would touch the feet of voters and he will remain indebted to them for his entire life if they elected him.

If they vote for him, Koushik Reddy said he will take out a success rally (Vijaya Yatra) on December 4 with them. Otherwise, he said, people will have to join his death procession (Shava Yatra) on December 4.

Boga Shravani, BJP candidate from Jagtial, urged the people to treat her like their daughter and give one chance by electing her as an MLA.

She requested them to give their votes like ‘Odu Biyyam’ — ceremonial rice which families give their daughters when they visit their maternal home. She said voters should decide whether she should live or die with their votes.

Congress candidate and MLC T. Jeevan Reddy distributed a signed bond paper to the people, promising that he would fulfill all the promises which he made to the people during his election campaign after the formation of the government by the Congress.

“Whatever the people wish on this special day will be fulfilled. That is why I am giving a bond paper promising that he will fulfill all the promises after the Congress forms the government in the state,” he said.
