MK Stalin greets Uddhav Thackeray as Maha CM, hails Pawar\'s role

He was accompanied by DMK parliamentary party leader and former Union minister T R Baalu.

CHENNAI: Landing in Mumbai for the swearing-in of the new 'Maha Aghadi' government in Maharashtra, the DMK president and opposition leader in Tamil Nadu Assembly on Thursday greeted the new Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray with a shawl. He was accompanied by DMK parliamentary party leader and former Union minister T R Baalu.

"I am happy to be in Mumbai for this momentous occasion today. I sincerely hope that the alliance of Shivsena, INC and NCP "provides inclusive growth and overall development to the State," Stalin tweeted from the financial capital.

Mr. Stalin also expressed the hope that the new Government will work closely with Tamils in Maharashtra to "ensure their safety and progress within the state."
Mr. Stalin further hoped that Uddhav will join "all of us in speaking for greater State autonomy and federal rights."

Mr. Stalin in a separate message from Mumbai also hailed the role of NCP leader Sharad Pawar "who played a crucial role in forging opposition unity in Maharashtra, which will serve as a model across the country."
