DK Aruna: No woman mantri, CM says he will empower them

The Congress legislator criticised Mr Rao for changing tack on the Metro Rail project which he had once ridiculed.

Hyderabad: Senior Congress legislator D.K Aruna on Tuesday slammed Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for speaking at the Global Entrepreneurship Summit, which was meant for women empowerment, without providing representation to women in his Cabinet for the last three and a half years.

“It is ridiculous that he spoke about women empowerment,” Ms Aruna said.

Speaking to mediapersons, Ms Aruna said previous Congress governments had given due representation to women in all spheres including in the Cabinet. The TRS government had failed to appoint a single woman minister. Besides, the government had done injustice to Dwcra women groups, she said.

Ms Aruna said that not having a woman minister and IT minister K.T. Rama Rao’s role being highlighted in front of US President’s adviser Ivanka Trump at the GES Summit would be seen as an insult to womenfolk.

The Congress legislator criticised Mr Rao for changing tack on the Metro Rail project which he had once ridiculed.

Ms Aruna said the Chief Minister should be held responsible for all the delay in execution of the Metro Rail project that was caused by his opposition, which had resulted in cost escalation.
