Chennai: The state unit of the BJP lashed out at the DMK, Congress and the left parties saying they lacked the support of the people on the demonetisation initiative of the Narendra Modi government.
“People are with our Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi with regard to the surgical strike on black money. They are not with the opposition parties,” party president Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan said reacting to the agitation against the withdrawal of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currencies by the Centre earlier this month.
Meanwhile, the BJP members went about explaining to the people the positive aspects of the demonetisation under the “Modi for People, People with Modi” campaign that was launched for the occasion to counter opposition agitation against demonetisation.
Union Urban Development Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu had hit out at the opposition parties and said they had no reason to be angry as the people said they were willing to bear with the short-term pains for long-term gains.
