Denial of tickets: Two Congress workers attempt immolation

Vishnuvardhan Reddy likely to switch over to BRS

Hyderabad: Protests by Congress leaders, who were denied Assembly election tickets, in the second list continued for the second day in several
constituencies on Sunday.

At Gandhi Bhavan, two associates of Gali Anil Kumar, who has been denied a ticket from Narsapur, attempted to end their lives. They alleged that the party nominee Avula Raji Reddy was a BRS 'covert' and demanded that Anil Kumar, a party loyalist, be selected.

In Mudhole, party workers protested against allotment of the ticket to Narayanrao Patel and alleged that tickets were allotted to leaders who had never stepped into Gandhi Bhavan.

In Parkal, party workers opposed allotment of the ticket to Yeshaswani Reddy, daughter-in-law of NRI H. Jhani Reddy, who, they said, did not have a party membership. Supporters of E. Thirupathi Reddy fixed a deadline of November 2 for the party leadership to change the candidate failing which they would quit the party.

In Dornakal, party workers undertook ‘Jaladeeskha’, standing in a lake demanding a ticket to Bhupal Naik. A decision is pending.

Meanwhile, supporters of P. Vishnuvardhan Reddy, who was denied ticket from Jubilee Hills, continued their protests for the second day. Reddy said he will take a decision in the next two days. He has been reportedly approached by both the BRS and the BJP and he is likely to join the former.
