Congress candidate cautions voters about ‘tactics of lure’ adopted by rivals

The Congress candidate said that the response to her campaign, especially from the women and youth, was tremendous

Hyderabad: Expressing confidence that she would win the Munugode byelection with a huge majority, Congress candidate Palvai Sravanthi appealed to the voters to be watchful of the tactics adopted by her rivals. She felt that the TRS and the BJP would try to lure them with inducements in the last leg of the campaign.

Sravanthi who campaigned in Munugode constituency along with PCC chief A. Revanth Reddy, MLA D. Sridhar Babu and MLC T Jeevan Reddy said that people were witnessing how two political giants — Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao — had deployed a huge army of campaigners and invested massive resources to defeat an ordinary woman like her.

“While I'm seeking votes on the promise of serving the people with honesty, the BJP and the TRS are trying to lure voters with cash, liquor and sops. They are misusing official machinery, intimidating Congress cadres and resorting to unethical means. I'm meeting the voters with empty, but folded, hands. These moments are historic and this battle will be remembered forever," Sravanthi said.

The Congress candidate said that the response to her campaign, especially from the women and youth, was tremendous. "Munugode voters have known me since I was a child. I used to campaign along with my father late Palvai Govardhan Reddy. I was badly missing my father when I started the campaign. I was a bit terrified when TRS and BJP started luring voters with cash and liquor. But the people gave me so much support and love that I never felt like an orphan. Every family treated me like its daughter. Therefore, the Munugode byelection is a fight between the 'Daughter of Munugode' versus the BJP-TRS combine," she said.
