Thiruvananthapuram: BJP state president P. S. Sreedharan Pillai has clarified that the party's national president Amit Shah had only said that people would pull down Pinarayi Vijayan government.
Shah had said in Kannur while inaugurating its district headquarters that BJP would drag the LDF out of power, kicking up a row as many said it was a threat to dismiss Mr Vijayan. Talking to reporters here on Sunday, Mr Pillai said a section of media was twisting his words.
On the arrests over Sabarimala protests, Mr Pillai said the devotees were arrested like criminals.
"False cases have been charged against them. The arrest of Ayyappa Dharmasena president Rahul Easwar is highly condemnable. Now what is happening in the state these days is undeclared war. BJP will fight it tolerantly," he said.
He will observe a fast before the police headquarters on Tuesday and lead the Rath Yatra from Kasaragod - Pathanamthitta. BDJS president Tushar Vella-pally will accompany him on the Rathyatra.
He maintained that BJP workers have no role in attacking the ashram of Sandeepana-nda Giri.
Meanwhile, the CPM and the Congress party condemned Mr Shah’s statement threatening the state government.
KPCC president Mu-llapally Ramachandran asserted that it would not be the BJP but the people who are going to do it while Opposition leader Ramesh Chenn-ithala said BJP in Kerala does not have the power to topple the government.
