Congress MP Slams BRS Government Over Agri Power Cuts

Hyderabad: Congress MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy lashed out at the BRS government for allegedly imposing power cuts on the agriculture sector, resulting in crops withering away as farmers could not irrigate them.

Speaking to media persons here on Friday, Venkat Reddy alleged that against the government claim of 24x7 power, farmers were not getting even 10-12 hour supply a day.

He dared ministers K.T. Rama Rao and T. Harish Rao to visit any electricity sub-station with him to find out the ground reality. He promised to resign as MP if it was found that any sub-station was providing 24-hour power supply to farmers.

Venkat Reddy demanded that the state government ensure uninterrupted power supply at least for 20 days to save standing paddy crops.

To a question Venkat Reddy said that a consensus has been reached on 63 Congress candidates for Assembly polls and the party high command would announce the list by October second week.
