MLC post to Viswa Brahmin community soon, says YSRC MLA
Vijayawada: Guntur West MLA Maddali Giridhar promised on Sunday that he would bring the issues of the 25lakh-strong Viswa Brahmin community to the notice of Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy and seek early redressal.
The YSRC government is working for the welfare and development of all sections of the society, he said and noted that Jagan had, during his Padayatra, promised to give an MLC seat to the Viswa Brahmin community. A decision would soon be taken on this, he said.
The oath-taking ceremony for the district committee of the AP Brahmana Sangham was held in Guntur on Sunday. Giridhar said the government is keen on reaching the benefits of the state’s welfare schemes to the Viswa Brahmin community too.
There were requests to identify Viswa Brahmin as the “claimants of the Mangala Sutras,” and this issue would be addressed. The state government is providing welfare schemes like pucca houses, ration cards etc to all needy people without any bias, he said.
The MLA said the previous Telugu Desam government had released funds for welfare schemes before elections to get votes, but the Jagan-led government would do this at all times, even when there are no elections.
“The Viswa Brahmins had cooperated with the YSRC and helped me win the 2019 assembly elections. Its leaders had earlier explained to the CM about the lack of financial capacity for them to contest elections. Jagan then promised to give them an MLC post. This would be done," the MLA said.
APVBS state president Pavuluri Hanumantrao, general secretary of the association Duvvuri Narasimhachari, honorary president Javvadi Kurmachari, executive chairman Chazerla Manoharachari, women's committee chairperson Angalakuditi Sushila, Guntur district president Kolagani Nandavaraprasad, among others, addressed the meeting.
