Vidhana Soudha bustles with activity again
Bengaluru: The lull of over a month drew to an end in Vidhana Soudha with a couple of ministers-Mr Kota Srinivas Poojari and Mrs Shashikala Jolle-performing pooja and chairing meetings of their departments in new offices allotted to them on Wednesday.
Ministers including Mr R Ashok, Mrs Shashikala Jolle and Mr Govinda Karjola attended a cabinet sub-committee meeting, while other ministers took stock of their respective departments. They include Mr S Suresh Kumar, Mr J Madhuswamy, deputy chief minister Dr Ashwathnarayana and Mr C T Ravi.
On entering the new office, Mr Kota Srinivas Poojari said he had to deal with three portfolios. In the first place, fishermen were demanding subsidy for diesel and kerosene. A decision regarding waiver loans of women who have ventured into fishing was pending. Besides, the Muzrai department too had problems to be addressed by him. "There are 28,000 temples where the government is paying Rs 84 lakh thastik. We have to see if it is reaching them," he added.
Mrs Shashikala Jolle said she was happy to assume charge as minister.
"I am going to travel in flood hit areas of Chikkodi district," she added.
