Congress leader Shabbir Ali seeks Opposition role in survey

He questioned the government for involving only TRS MPs and legislators and not those from the Opposition.

Hyderabad: Senior Congress leader Shabbir Ali on Monday said the land survey proposed by the state government was “unconstitutional and undemocratic” and could not be run as a ruling party affair.

Speaking to mediapersons at the Congress Legislature Party office along with Mr Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy, he demanded that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao call an all-party meeting and the state Legislature to formulate the modalities and procedures for the survey.

“Why not involve the Opposition in framing rules and regulations for the survey so that the process is foolproof and will be useful to expose corruption and scams in the land allotments,” Mr Shabbir Ali asked.

He questioned the government for involving only TRS MPs and legislators and not those from the Opposition. “Such discrimination cannot be valid,” said Mr Shabbir Ali, leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council.
