Chennai: Fisheries minister D. Jayakumar on Monday said 117 (of the total 134, including Speaker) MLAs of the AIADMK attended the meeting at the party headquarters in the morning, where resolutions were passed to convene the general council for removal of Sasikala as interim general secretary.
“We have the majority support among the party MLAs. All the four resolutions were passed unanimously. As per our party's constitution, TTV's appointment (as deputy general secretary) is invalid. All the office-bearers appointed by Amma (Jayalalithaa) will continue to hold office”, said the minister, adding that steps would be taken to wrest the control of Jaya TV and Namadhu MGR newspaper (from the Sasikala family).
Meanwhile, Thuglak editor S. Gurumurthy responded to the vitriolic attack on him by TTV loyalist Nanjil Sampath — he had called him the de facto CM of Tamil Nadu — saying that the words from a “nonentity” were of no consequence, yet a TV channel chose to give it undeserved publicity.
