KCR favouring kin on project: Revanth Reddy
Hyderabad: TS Telugu Desam working president A. Revanth Reddy on Sunday alleged that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao was trying to protect land belonging to Kaveri Seeds from submergence under the Pamalaparthy reservoir by reducing its storage by a third. Mr Revanth Reddy challenged Mr Rao to send him to jail for naming him, as he had threatened to do recently.
The TD leader said that as part of the Pranahita-Kaleswaram project, the Pamalaparthy reservoir was proposed to have a storage of 21 tmc ft in Wargal mandal of Gajwel Assembly segment. The government recently decided to reduce the capacity to 7 tmc ft.
“This was done to help his close relative and owner of Kaveri Seeds whose land will get submerged if 21 tmc ft water is stored. According to reports, 263 acres of Kaveri Seeds is located in the area and they have represented the matter to the Chief Minister. After this, the government reduced the capacity to save the land, I demand Chief Minister make a statement on this,” he said.
Mr Rao had ignored the pleas of farmers facing submergence under the Mallannasagar project to reduce its capacity, he noted.
