HYDERABAD: Congress Nalgonda MP N. Uttam Kumar Reddy urged Nitin Gadkari, Union minister for road transport and highways, to release additional funds for four-laning of highways at Mukundapuram, Nereducharla municipality, Appannapeta, Seetharamapuram and Chilkur towns.

He submitted proposals for works worth Rs 140.8 crore in Suryapet and Nalgonda districts, when meeting the minister in New Delhi on Thursday.

The MP said that the Centre had sanctioned Rs 1,100 crore for work on NH-167 from Jadcharla to Kodad. In addition, Rs 222 crore was sanctioned for the Miryalaguda-Kodad highway; the two-lane road should be widened to four lanes from Mukundapuram to Chilkur, he said.

In view of thickly populated areas, traffic congestion and cement factories on the stretch, additional funds were required for four-lane works between Mukundapuram to Chilkur, he said. Uttam Kumar Reddy said that proposals had been submitted for Rs 140.80 crore road works under Central road fund (CRF) scheme in Huzurnagar, Kodad, Miryalaguda, Suryapet, Devarakonda and Nagarjunasagar Assembly constituencies.
