Hyderabad: The Cabinet subcommittee on two-bedroom houses for the poor said it would meet contractors who were not moving quickly on the scheme.
The subcommittee, comprising finance minister Etela Rajender and housing minister A. Indrakaran Reddy, which reviewed the progress of the scheme, asked contractors to ensure completion of work on 2.7 lakh 2BHKs by the year-end.
The committee felt that contractors were not coming forward to take up construction even after the government had offered various concessions. It decided to meet contractors soon to resolve issues, if any, and speed up construction work.
