Karnataka: Congress backs seer on Iftar You did right
Bengaluru: Bemoaning the fact that intolerance was growing across the country, KPCC president Dr G. Parameshwar on Wednesday defended the move by the seer of Pejawar math, Sri Vishwesha Teertha, to host Iftar meal in the premises of the famed temple of Lord Krishna in Udupi.
He told the media here: "I hope Pejawar Seer's gesture will usher in communal harmony in the coastal region which otherwise is torn on communal lines for years. He has taken a gigantic step in bridging the communal divide. His gesture is worthy of emulation across the country."
He hoped that outfits like Sri Rama Sene would understand the necessity of communal harmony and shun activities which only fan feelings of hatred. Evading a direct response to a question on the ban on cow slaughter, he said communal forces thrive on such frivolous issues mainly to divert attention from the real issues.
