Crack in Assam's BJP alliance: AGP leader warns Central government

The issue that Mahanta flagged was about the decision of petroleum ministry to auction at least 12 small and marginal oil and gas fields.

Guwahati: Cracks in about a month-old BJP led ruling alliance in Assam has started surfacing with two time chief minister and veteran AGP leader Prafulla Kumar Mahanta warning the central government to be careful while taking decision on emotive issues of Northeast.

Though, immediate issue that Mahanta flagged was about the decision of petroleum ministry to auction at least 12 small and marginal oil and gas fields.

He said, “We came to know about the decision of the petroleum ministry to auction 12 oil and gas fields from the newspaper. The decision is against the spirit of Assam Accord so, I would like to request the centre to put a hold on bidding process.”
