MLA organises cycle rally against Naidu

Visakhapatnam: Visakhapatnam South MLA Vasupalli Ganesh Kumar led a cycle rally on Monday morning in protest against the comments made by the TD president N. Chandrababu Naidu on the distribution of house pattas at Amaravati by Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy recently.

The rally began at Jagadamba junction and culminated in a meeting near One Town police station. The MLA said Naidu offended the poor by comparing those house sites with the burial ground. “This shows Naidu’s arrogant attitude and hatred towards the poor,’’ Ganesh Kumar told the gathering.

He said due to the pro-poor policies of the YSRC government and social welfare schemes, the living conditions of the poor had been improving over the last four years. He said 31 lakh women benefited from the direct benefit transfer schemes.

In Amaravati, the Chief Minister gave away house site pattas to 51,000 women with each site costing around ₹10 lakh. On the other hand, the former chief minister made derogatory comments on the house sites during his public meeting at Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Anakapalli districts last week, the MLA said.

Comparing house sites with burial grounds was arrogant, Chandrababu Naidu should apologise to the people. People are ready to give him a fitting lesson in the next elections, the MLA said.

Former MLA Tynala Vijay Kumar, Fisheries Corporation chairman Kola Guruvulu and other YSRC leaders were present.
