P S Sreedharan Pillai comes under attack

K. Surendran and Suresh Gopi came third in Pathanamthitta and Thrissur.

Thiruvananthapuram/Alappuzha: Though BJP state president P. S. Sreedharan Pillai claims that national president Amit Shah is very happy with his performance, he faced the wrath of his colleagues at the core committee meeting held in Alappuzha on Tuesday. Y. Satya Kumar, BJP national secretary and prabhari in-charge of the state, expressed his disappointment at the party's dismal performance in the Lok Sabha elections despite a favourable political climate.

The majority of the leaders in the state committee and later in the core committee came down heavily on Sreedharan Pillai for his controversial comments during the campaigning. On numerous occasions, Pillai had locked horns with Chief Electoral Officer Teeka Ram Meena."Sreedharan Pillai wanted to contest from Pathanamthitta which delayed the candidature of K. Surendran. Satya Kumar said this had sent out a wrong message to the voters. He was also upset that the party did not get lead in Vattiyoorkavu Assembly segment which is known as a stronghold of the RSS," said a BJP leader.

K. Surendran and Suresh Gopi came third in Pathanamthitta and Thrissur. It is said that the central leadership may bring in a new president in the state. But the state leaders feigned ignorance about such a move.

It is expected that narendra Modi will give a cabinet berth to Kummanam R-ajasekeharan. Other probables are former state president V. Muraleedharan, Alphons Kannanthanam and Suresh Gopi."But this will be known only at the last minute," sources said.

After the core committee meeting, M. T. Ramesh, BJP state general secretary, said that the BJP had increased its vote share due to the LDF government's attempt to destroy the rituals at Sabarimala.
