BJP not keen on other party leaders

The BJP had projected a narrative that the Congress and the TRS were going to team up under the tutelage of Kishor

HYDERABAD: With strategist Prashant Kishor deciding not to join the Congress, the calculations of the BJP in Telangana vis-à-vis an expected inflow of TRS and Congress leaders to the saffron party have gone wrong.

The state BJP had thought Kishor would facilitate a tie-up between the TRS and the Congress in Telangana, which could be of help to the BJP in terms of a likely exodus from these two parties.

In the changed scenario, both the Congress and TRS leaders in the state are largely relieved that Kishor would not become part of the Congress.

The BJP had projected a narrative that the Congress and the TRS were going to team up under the tutelage of Kishor. The saffron party would continue to take this line though such a chance has dimmed.

Now, what is clear to the BJP is that not many might attempt to come to its fold from the two rival parties in the immediate future. The party’s central leadership had already asked the state unit not to rush into inviting all and sundry to the party.

According to BJP sources, each person from another party who wishes to join the BJP will be vetted, particularly vis-a-vis their liability factor as also abilities.
