Database on edu institutions soon
Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala State Higher Education Council (KSHEC) has decided to collect data on all higher education institutions to fill the gap.
Modelled on the all India Survey on Higher Education, All Kerala Higher Education Survey (AKHES) will help formulate policies in the sector.
The main objective is to identify and capture all the institutions of higher learning in the state.
A dedicated portal kshec.gov.in is in place for collection and compilation of the data where all the institutions need to register for accessing and uploading data.
An appropriate level of officers at KSHEC will review and accept them. Nodal officers the institutions themselves appoint are the investigators responsible for filling up the DCF and uploading. It eliminates duplication.
Once the data is uploaded, the compilation is done automatically in pre-designed formats.
Essential details like that of the teachers, non-teaching staff, the programme conducted under various faculties and schools and departments or centres, students enrolled, examination results of terminal year of each programme, financial information such as receipts and expenditure under various heads, infrastructure and scholarships, loans and accreditation will be collected through the survey.
Indicators of educational development such as institution density, gross enrolment ratio, pupil-teacher ratio, and gender parity index are calculated from the data for informed policy decisions and research.
