People will remove electricity minister's fuse, says Ramesh Chennithala

Kottayam: Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala said that the people of the state will unplug the fuse of electricity minister M.M. Mani who had insulted the women.

Mr Chennithala was addressing a protest meet organised by the UDF in solidarity with the strike declared by ‘Pompilai Oruma’ at Munnar on Friday.

“Mani who became an insult to the state should immediately resign,” he said. “Mani who utters whatever he feels should be named as abuser Mani. Similar incidents were created to facilitate the encroachments,” he said.

The CPM had made Mani a culprit by reprimanding him. “If he is a culprit, then how can he continue as a minister. The chief minister had justified the abusive speech of Mani on two occasions in the Assembly. This was a gesture for shifting his loyalty to the Pinarayi faction from the V.S. Achuthanathan faction,” he said.

The police were mere spectators in the attack unleashed by the CPM activists at Munnar the other day. The UDF will press for the resignation of Mani. If he does not resign, the UDF will protest inside and outside the Assembly, he said.

The UDF meeting to be held on Tuesday will decide the future course of action against Mani, he added. Deputy Leader of the Opposition, Dr M.K. Muneer, Shibu Baby John and Anoop Jacob, MLAs, among others were present on the occasion.
