UDF mourns Nadapuram blast
KOZHIKODE: While the CPM tries to wash its hands of the blast that rocked Nadapuram on Wednesday night, the rivals are cashing in on the situation as election is round the corner. On Thursday, the UDF organised a satyagraha demanding a comprehensive probe into the blast that happened while making bombs in Theruvanparambu, near Kallachi, Nadapuram.
The UDF alleged that the blast was a means to derail the election and create fear among the voters. UDF candidate in Nadapuram, K Praveen Kumar, who inaugurated the satyagraha, said that the peace-loving people of the area should realise the violent politics of the CPM. The police should be more alert to unearth more weapons stored in the area, he said.
Kuttiady UDF candidate Parakkal Abdulla, who attended the satyagraha in Nadapuram, said that the blast was the CPM’s organised attempt to shatter the peaceful atmosphere prevailing in Kuttiady. He filed a complaint with the Election Commission to probe the incident. The satyagraha was attended by Kuttiadi constituency UDF election committee chairman V.M. Chandran AND general convener P.M. Aboobacker,
Nadapuram sitting MLA and LDF candidate E.K. Vijayan said that the party already HAD disowned the incident. “The CPM has already made it clear that the party has no connection with the blast or the people behind it. There should be a comprehensive probe to bring out the truth. An all-party meeting can be called once the interrogations are over,” said Mr Vijayan.
