LS passes Competition (Amendment) Bill 2022

New Delhi: As the Opposition protests continued in both Houses of Parliament, the Lok Sabha on Monday passed the Competition (Amendment) Bill 2022.

Both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha proceedings were adjourned till Monday amid uproar, with the Opposition members raising slogans and demanding a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) probe into the allegations against the Adani Group.

As the Lok Sabha reassembled at noon after the adjournment in the morning, the Opposition members rushed to the Well of the House and raised slogans demanding a JPC probe into the Adani issue. Amid the din, some papers as well as reports were laid on the table of the House.

Environment minister Bhupender Yadav then introduced the Forest (Conservation) Amendment Bill 2023 in the Lok Sabha. Amid loud sloganeering by the Opposition members, the Competition (Amendment) Bill was taken up for consideration and passed without a debate.
