Rahul Gandhi will deliver on Rs 6,000 poll promise, says MK Stalin

The DMK chief also promised to implement Sethusamudram project.

Madurai: Lashing out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi accusing him of failing to deliver on promises, DMK chief M.K Stalin said in contrast, Congress president Rahul Gandhi would surely implement his promised 'Minimum Income Guaranteed Scheme' (MIGS) to reach Rs 6000 every month to the BPL families.

“The BJP members are asking how Rahul Gandhi will be able to deliver on the MIGS. To them, my only reply is, it's Rahul saying and not Mo(sa)di”, Stalin said at his huge election rally at Thirumangalam near here on Thursday. He alleged that Prime Minister Modi had indulged in 'mosadi' (cheating) by going back on many major poll promises and so it was appropriate to call him as PM Mosadi instead of PM Modi.

Listing out the instances where he alleged PM Modi had gone back on his promises, Stalin asked, “Did he keep his promise to give jobs to 10 crore educated youth over his five-year term in office at the rate of two crores every year?” Also, the PM had promised to bring back black money stashed away abroad but nothing happened in that direction either. The promise of doubling the prices for farm produce did not materialise, the DMK chief said, listing out some more 'delivery failures' of PM Modi.

He would expect the Prime Minister on his next election campaign trip to Tamil Nadu to answer at least a few of the questions he (Stalin) has now raised, the DMK chief said.

He referred to the suicide of the poor Dalit student Anita from Ariyalur after failing in the Neet and asked, “What is the remedy your governments have offered for this tragedy haunting the rural students?” On the other hand, the first thing he would do when his DMK soon wins power in the state is to sign the order doing way with Neet. The DMK chief also promised to implement Sethusamudram project.
