BJP hopes for a ‘miracle’ victory in Nizamabad Lok Sabha.

After the alliance between TD-BJP, the BJP had not contested in 1999, 2004 and 2009 elections.

Nizamabad: BJP has pinned its hopes on winning the Nizamabad Parliamentary constituency in the ensuing elections.

In view of its past record of BJP representation in Nizamabad Urban and then Metpally Assembly constituencies, party leadership is confident of a miracle occurring in the Parliamentary constituency. BJP national leadership is keen to win more seats in Telangana state.

After Secunderabad Parliamentary constituency, BJP is hopeful to win in Nizamabad too. The party strategically fielded political heir of Rajya Sabha member D. Srinivas’s son Dharmapuri Arvind. Being a young entrepreneur, Arvind has prepared ground in the last two years. He targeted the ruling TRS party leaders, especially MP K. Kavitha on several issues.

In 1991) Parliament mid-term polls, BJP candidate L. Bhupati Reddy secured 1,07,779 (18.60 per cent) votes as then Telugu Desam nominee G. Ganga Reddy won with 2,57,297 (44.41 per cent) votes. In 1996, BJP candidate P. Hanmanth Reddy got 64,495 votes (9.52 per cent).

After the alliance between TD-BJP, the BJP had not contested in 1999, 2004 and 2009 elections.

Meanwhile, Y. Laxminarayana got elected as Nizamabad urban MLA in 2009 general elections and 2010 by-elections.

Mr Vidyasagar Rao served as BJP Metpally MLA for a long time. He also served as Karimnagar MP, which included Metpally and Jagtial Assembly segments.

Voters of Nizamabad urban and Metpally (now Korutla) segments once supported the BJP.

In this context, assuring four major promises of 1 lakh houses under Prime Minister Awas Yojana, setting up of Turmeric Board, revival of Nizam Sugar Factory and setting up of youths skill development centre, BJP nominee Mr Dharmapuri Arvind is moving ahead.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Mr Arvind said that the Modi wave and anti TRS wave would help BJP to do well in Parliament elections.

He also said that setting aside caste and religion, he is trying to get all the voters’ support in the elections.

“I am very accessible to the voters and strongly believe in their support” he said and added, “The BJP central leadership and manifesto committee chairman Rajnath Singh has supported us. I am more concerned about Gulf workers and will set up NRI cell to redress their grievances.”
