CM planning to lure Mysuru voters with Rs 500-1,000: HD Kumaraswamy
Bengaluru: State JD(S) president H.D. Kumaraswamy accused Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of planning to distribute Rs 500 to Rs 1,000 to each voter to win the Assembly elections.
He told reporters in Mysuru on Wednesday that the Congress is claiming to win 120 seats and that would be through buying votes. “First of all, it is not certain whether Mr Siddaramaiah will contest from the Chamundeshwari Assembly constituency. Already, the CM has got Kempaiah, a former IPS officer and adviser to Home Minister, to do a survey of Krishnaraja and Narasimharaja constituencies. The electorate of Chamundeshwari constituency will give a fitting reply if the CM contests from this constituency. The sitting JD(S) MLA G.T. Deve Gowda is confident of retaining the seat and that was the reason, we launched 'Kumara Parva' rally from here. If Mr Siddaramaiah contests from this constituency, I will be here on May 15 announcing hisdefeat,” Mr Kumaraswamy said.
Exuding confidence that the JD(S) will perform better in the Assembly elections, he said that his party will win all the 14 seats in Hassan and Mandya districts. “We are not worried about the recent pre-poll survey done by the Congress, which claimed that it would win 128 seats. The owner of that agency is always seen with the CM. The electorate don’t believe such survey reports,” he said.
Earlier, he went to the Suttur Math branch on the foothills of Chamundi and met Shivaratri Deshikendra Swamy. They held a closed-door meeting for about 15 minutes.
