Bengaluru: Strongly defending the issuing of a police circular to withdraw cases against innocent minority community members, Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah on Sunday criticised Bharatiya Janata Party leaders saying they do not wish to see the bright side of things, instead they wanted to pick holes in what the government does based on religious lines.
“What is wrong in dropping cases against those involved in pro-people struggles? Why should the BJP link this with a particular religion and complain about minority appeasement? If someone belonging to the minority community is involved in pro-people struggles, should cases against such people not be dropped?,” he questioned angrily after launching the pulse polio drive in the state at his Home Office - Krishna - here.
He asserted that the state government was well within its limits in seeking a report on such issues and this was not the first time that any state government was exercising this right.
