BRS reveals why it avoided meeting PM

Hyderabad: The BRS on Wednesday disclosed the reason behind their party leaders, including former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, ceasing to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asserting that the party remained steadfast in its pursuit of Telangana state’s rightful share from the Centre.

BRS leaders, expressing dissatisfaction over Prime Minister Modi's alleged disregard for hundreds of letters written by Chandrashekar Rao, affirmed that they decided to discontinue meetings with him.

Senior BRS leader and former MP B. Vinod Kumar addressed reporters, stating that the party appreciates the recent efforts made by Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, who met with Modi on Tuesday to address Telangana state-related issues. Vinod Kumar, while welcoming the visit to Delhi, mentioned that they handed Modi "the letters we wrote to Modi when we were in power." He defended the BRS' continuous efforts in pressing Modi on the assurances outlined in the AP Reorganisation Act for Telangana. According to him, every time Chandrashekar Rao met with Modi, the Prime Minister merely committed to examining the matters raised.

In the midst of these developments, BRS leader Dr Dasoju Sravan criticised Revanth Reddy for "levelling serious allegations against Chandrashekhar Rao." Sravan questioned the need for seeking fresh applications under the Praja Palana programme for ongoing schemes instead of promptly implementing the promised initiatives, asserting that the Congress government was adopting a protracted approach, causing unnecessary delays.
