UDF sees holes in LDF's graft fight

Addressing a press meet here, he said that the LDF was expanded due to fear of the front of losing in coming Lok Sabha polls.

Kochi: Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala on Thursday said that the facade of anti-corruption and anti-communalism plank put up by Left forces has fallen with the induction of tainted and communal parties into the LDF.

Addressing a press meet here, he said that the LDF was expanded due to fear of the front of losing in coming Lok Sabha polls. “The people will see through the LDF’s double standards in whitewashing those whom they called corrupt and communal and deal a severe drubbing at the hustings for the front,” he said.

Mr Chennithala ask-ed the CPM to clarify if it had gone back on its allegation that M.P. Veerendrakumar is a land encroacher. “V.S. Achuthanandan sent R. Balakrishna Pillai to the gallows branding him corrupt and the latest decision to induct him to LDF shows that the Front had no problems compromising with corruption. V.S. should make clear his stand on the induction of Pillai. Whether the stand that INL is a communal outfit has now changed or not,” he asked. He also said that by taking back the accused police personnel in the Varappuzha custody murder case into service, the government was promoting custodial deaths.

He also said the government was behaving like Naranathu Bran-than on Sabarimala issue.

“They are bringing the young women to Sabarimala and they force them to descend.” He also said that a probe should be ordered into who brought the Maneethi group to Pamba.

He also said that by organizing the women’s wall, the government was creating problems out of no issue and trying to divide people. He called up on people to stay away from it “at a time when the CPM is using threats to force people to attend it.”

He also justified former PSC chairman K S Radhakrishnan joining Ayyappa Jyothi saying he is not a member of Congress party.
