TPCC offers support to BC stir over reservation

The BC leaders belonging to Opposition parties have decided to intensify the protests.

Hyderabad: The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) on Thursday has extended its support for the protest by the BCs against the government over reducing their reservation in the Panchayat Raj polls to 23 per cent from 34 per cent.

The TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has also written a letter to Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, demanding to provide the BC reservations in the Panchayat Raj polls as per the population percentage in the state.

Mr Uttam Kumar Reddy said in his statement, “The BC leaders have decided to fight against the government over reservations and the Congress will extend its support in getting them justice. The government is not following the orders of the High Court. The BC leaders have also met me regarding the same. The leaders of Congress and the party workers will widely take part in the BCs’ protests against the government.”

The BC leaders belonging to Opposition parties have decided to intensify the protests. The BC Welfare Association has already filed a petition in the High Court against the Ordinance issued by the government.
