Poll: Krishnaiah Demands More BC Presence

Hyderabad: Welcoming the Telangana BJP offering the Chief Minister's post to a leader from the Backward Classes community if the party came to power, National BC Welfare Association president R. Krishnaiah on Saturday demanded that the Congress select more candidates from the community.

He said the Congress had given tickets only to 20 candidates from the community; the BRS has similarly ignored them. Krishnaiah, a YSRC MP from Andhra Pradesh, a alleged that all political parties had cheated the BC community by utilising their services and then refusing to give them importance.

Krishnaiah demanded that all political parties support a Bill in Parliament giving 50 per cent reservation to the BC community in legislature. The BJP must consider introducing it on the lines of women's reservations Bill and take measures to pass it.

"Announcing the CM’s posts for the BC community is not a solution. Political parties must understand the demand for a Bill in Parliament,” he said.
