Telugu Desam is top earner, report shows
Hyderabad: An analysis of income and expenditure of regional political parties by the Association for Democratic Reforms has revealed that Telugu Desam tops in income among Telugu States followed by the TRS.
The TD had Rs 15.97 crore of income from various sources in 2015-16, the TRS Rs 8.9 crore, MIM Rs 3.36 crore and YSRC Rs 1.91 crore. The ADR said YSRC’s expenditure was 50 per cent more than actual income at Rs 2.87 crore. The TD’s expenditures was recorded as Rs 13.1 crore with excess income Rs 2.87 crore, TRS spent Rs 8.4 crore and AIMIM Rs 67 lakh.
The TRS topped in income from unknown sources (voluntary contributions by individuals below Rs 20,000) at Rs 7.24 crore followed by the TD at Rs 6.88 crore and YSRC at Rs 26 lakh. The ADR said that all the four regional parties had submitted returns in time but the MIM’s papers were ‘incomplete’.
