BENGALURU: Ban on Popular Front of India (PFI) by the Union Government drew sharp reactions from the two former Chief Ministers of the State, with Congressman Siddaramaiah demanding a ban on RSS if found to be a threat to public peace while JDS leader Kumaraswamy stated that ban on PFI does not bring peace.
Responding to the ban on the Popular Front of India by the Union Government, Congressman and former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday stated that he will not oppose ban on any groups involved in disturbing peace and tranquillity in the society and asked the Union Government to ban Rashtriya Swayaksevak Sangh (RSS) among other organisations if they are found to be causing disturbance to public peace.
In his statement, Siddaramaiah said, “Any group involved in disturbing peace and tranquillity in the society and engaged in revenge politics, all should be banned.”
Over the imposition of the ban on Popular Front of India, Janata Dal Secular leader and former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on Wednesday “a mere ban on any group does not mean that peace will be established’ and demanded the Union Government to make public details pertaining to the Popular Front of India.
Speaking to reporters in Ramnagar, he said “any organisation involved in anti-social activities should be punished. Which all organisations were involved in anti-national activities and their role in anti-national activities should be made known to the people. It is the duty of the Union Government to share details.”
According to Kumaraswamy, “Banning PFI, does not mean that peace and tranquillity will be established. All sections of the society should be taken into confidence to restore peace and Governments should initiate steps to build confidence and create harmony".
